Zoe Hale - Oil Impressionism

Zoe’ Hale earned her BFA from Stephens College in Columbia Missouri in Fashion Design and enjoyed a long, successful career as a fashion designer, illustrator, graphic artist and interior designer.  She moved to LA and worked as a Set Costumer and Costume Designer. In Hollywood she worked at many studios, including Paramount, Universal, Sony, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., Disney Productions and ABC working on “Twin Peaks”, “General Hospital”, “Nightmare on Elm Street V”,” Wayne’s World”, “Bond of Blood”, “Star Trek The Next Generation”, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Caroline in the City”.  She worked in Europe on “Voyager” as set costumer and personal dresser to Sam Shepard.  While working at ABC on “General Hospital” her team won the Emmy Award every year.  Zoe’ was invited to join the Academy of Arts and Sciences as a Costume Designer and still votes for the Emmy Awards. 

In 1990,  Zoe’ started painting in oils. Her oil paintings are  known for the appearance of movement and luminous, opalescent light qualities. Zoe's art was represented at the Pacific Design Center in LA, LA  Art Connection, Courtyard Collection, LA Art Seen and had shows at the Hilton Hotel and Le Meridian. Her artwork is owned by: Mr. George Carlin, Mrs. Michael Landon, Ms.Genie Francis, Mr. Jonathan Frakes and The Rhonda Fleming Cancer Research for Women. In 2014 Zoe’ moved to Florida to be near her family.

OIL IMPRESSIONISM - All Levels

Oil is a medium well known for its versatile, luminous and forgiving qualities.  It is one of the oldest mediums in art history.  Beginners in this class will start, step by step, applying oils in thin and transparent layers working up to thick/opaque layers. Students will paint a simple garden scene or from their own photo reference.  Experienced oil painters are welcome to join this class with their own supplies, photo reference or composition.  Supply List online. Class Supply Kit or art supplies may be purchased at the VAC Art & Supply Store.
